How TON domain auctions work

Every new .ton name is sold through an open auction on the TON DNS smart contract. Each bid must beat the previous one by at least 5%, and an outbid amount is refunded to the bidder's wallet automatically. When the auction closes, the winner receives the domain as an NFT and can set its wallet, site and profile records immediately.

Why so many TON domains are in auction

The opening price of a .ton auction is fixed in Gram by name length — 100 Gram for four characters and 50 Gram for five — so with Gram trading near $1.38, short names are far cheaper today than when Gram was above $7. Once won, a .ton domain has no yearly fee.
