Learn TON DNS and Web3 Domains

Practical guides to TON DNS and Web3 domains, written by the Namespace team. Start with how a .ton domain resolves, then learn how to host a TON Site and serve it through a reverse proxy or RLDP.

TON DNS basics

Every .ton domain is an NFT whose smart contract stores records by category: a wallet address, an ADNL address for a TON Site, a TON Storage bag ID, a resolver for subdomains and free-form text records. Wallets and browsers read these records to turn a name into an address.

Hosting a TON Site

A TON Site is a website reached through the TON network instead of the classic web. You run a server, expose it with a reverse proxy or the RLDP-HTTP proxy, and point your .ton domain's site record at its ADNL address.

Editing records on Namespace

Once your site, storage or wallet is ready, connect the owner wallet on Namespace and update the matching record of your .ton domain. Each change is one on-chain transaction of 0.01 Gram, and it also renews the domain for another year.
