How to Activate Your Telegram Wallet (Free 0.1 Gram)

October 11, 2026

On 9 October 2026 Telegram opened its built-in wallet to every user. It lives right inside the app, in Settings → Wallet and in the attachment menu as Money, and it holds Gram, the coin of the TON blockchain (renamed from Toncoin in June 2026). Yet many people open Telegram, look for it and find nothing. This guide explains why, and how to switch your Telegram Wallet on today — for free.

What is the Telegram Wallet?

The Telegram Wallet is a non-custodial wallet built into the Telegram app. Non-custodial means the wallet belongs to you, not to a company that holds your coins for you. With it you can:

  • store and send Gram to your Telegram contacts, right from a chat;
  • receive Gram from any TON wallet or exchange, using your wallet address;
  • buy gifts and collectible usernames inside Telegram.

Under the hood each Telegram Wallet is a smart contract on the TON blockchain with its own address. That's why it works with the rest of TON: .ton domains, Telegram username NFTs and other TON wallets.

Why your Telegram Wallet isn't showing yet

The wallet doesn't appear for everyone automatically. It activates when your account receives its first Gram. Until then there's no Wallet section in Settings, no balance and no address to share.

That creates a chicken-and-egg problem:

  • a friend who already has an active wallet can send you Gram from a chat — if you know someone who does;
  • you can't fund it yourself from an exchange, because you can't see your address before the wallet is active.

There is also a minimum. In our tests, deposits under 0.1 Gram don't activate the wallet: Telegram ignores them, shows no notification and doesn't list them in history. The first incoming transfer has to be at least 0.1 Gram.

Activate your Telegram Wallet for free with Namespace

Namespace sends the first 0.1 Gram for free to switch your Telegram Wallet on. It takes less than a minute.

Option 1: on namespace.my or in the Telegram Mini App

  1. Open namespace.my and press Activate for free. Inside Telegram, open the Namespace Mini App from @namespace_ton_bot.
  2. Log in with Telegram. In the Mini App you're logged in automatically — Telegram already tells us who you are.
  3. On the Wallets tab, press Activate for free on the Telegram Wallet card.
  4. Within a minute you get a Telegram notification. Open Settings → Wallet: your wallet is on, with 0.1 Gram in it.

Option 2: in the Namespace bot

  1. Open @namespace_ton_bot and send /wallet, or press 💎 Activate Telegram Wallet.
  2. If your Telegram is connected to Namespace, the bot sends 0.1 Gram right away.
  3. If it isn't, the bot shows your wallet address with a Fund 0.1 Gram button, so you can activate it yourself from any TON wallet — or connect Telegram on Namespace and press the button again to get it free.

How to check the 0.1 Gram really came from Namespace

Every activation is sent from namespace.ton with the comment “Telegram Wallet activated by namespace.ton”. You can check the transaction in any TON explorer.

A free offer like this also attracts imitators, so keep these rules in mind:

  • Namespace never asks for your secret phrase, a password or a payment to activate your wallet.
  • We don't message you first. Only use namespace.my and @namespace_ton_bot.
  • Anyone who asks you to “send Gram to unlock” your wallet is a scammer.

Fair-use rules

  • One free activation per Telegram account.
  • If your wallet already has Gram, there is nothing to activate — we simply link it to your Namespace profile.
  • If our system can't reach your account, set a public @username in Telegram and try again.
  • There is a daily limit on free activations. If it's reached, try again the next day.

Use your Telegram Wallet with .ton domains

Once your wallet is active, it can do more than hold Gram:

  • Show your domains on your profile. In Namespace, open Wallets and press Use for my domains next to your Telegram Wallet. Any .ton domains or Telegram usernames it holds appear on your Namespace profile.
  • Get a name instead of a long address. A .ton domain such as yourname.ton can point to your Telegram Wallet, so people send Gram to a name they can read. It also protects you from address poisoning, where scammers plant lookalike addresses in your history.

Telegram's wallet is the largest step yet toward everyday crypto in a messenger. We covered what it means for Web3 identity when Pavel Durov first announced it; now it's live.

Frequently asked questions

Is activating the Telegram Wallet with Namespace really free?

Yes. Namespace pays the 0.1 Gram and the network fee. You don't pay anything and you don't need to own any crypto.

Does Namespace control my Telegram Wallet?

No. We only send Gram to your wallet's address. The wallet is created and managed by Telegram for your account; Namespace can't move funds out of it.

Why didn't my 0.05 Gram deposit activate the wallet?

Telegram ignores incoming transfers under 0.1 Gram. They don't activate the wallet and don't appear in its history. The first transfer must be at least 0.1 Gram.

Where do I find the wallet after activation?

In Telegram open Settings → Wallet. In a chat, open the attachment menu and choose Money to send Gram to that contact.

Can I activate the wallet without Namespace?

Yes: ask a contact with an active wallet to send you at least 0.1 Gram from a chat, or get your address from @namespace_ton_bot and send 0.1 Gram to it from any TON wallet.

Switch your Telegram Wallet on now

It takes a minute and costs nothing. Activate your Telegram Wallet for free on Namespace, or send /wallet to @namespace_ton_bot.
