TON Subdomain Auctions: How to Bid on a Subdomain of a .ton Domain
A .ton domain can have subdomains, like alice.brand.ton. On TON, subdomains can be NFTs of their own: once a domain owner enables them, anyone can win a subdomain in an auction and own it in their wallet, with its own DNS records. Namespace now lists these auctions live and lets you bid directly.
How TON subdomains work
- The owner of a .ton domain enables subdomains by sending the domain to a subdomain vault contract. The vault points the domain to a new subdomain collection.
- Anyone can then start an auction for an unused name under that domain. Each subdomain is its own NFT item, and the auction runs on the item itself.
- Bids are paid to the subdomain's contract. If you're outbid, your bid is returned automatically. When the auction ends, the highest bidder owns the subdomain.
A subdomain works like a domain: it can point to a wallet, a TON Site or a storage bag, and you can transfer it.
Find subdomains to bid on
- Subdomain auctions lists every live subdomain auction with its current bid and time left.
- Subdomain-enabled domains lists the .ton domains whose subdomains you can claim.
Our indexer follows the vault, the collections and every subdomain contract on-chain, so new auctions and bids appear within seconds.
How to bid on a TON subdomain
- Open an auction from the subdomain auctions list, or press Place a bid.
- The page shows the current bid, the minimum next bid and the time left, read live from the contract.
- Enter your bid in Gram (at least the minimum next bid) and press Place bid. Connect a TON wallet first if you haven't.
- Approve the payment in your wallet. Your bid appears in the bid history within seconds.
Each bid can extend the auction, so a late bid gives others time to answer. If you win, the subdomain is in your wallet when the auction ends and its page switches to show you as the owner.
After you win
- Set its records: point it to your wallet so people can send Gram to you.brand.ton.
- Transfer it to another wallet or .ton name from the subdomain page; see how to transfer a .ton domain, username or subdomain.
