How to Transfer a .ton Domain, Telegram Username or Subdomain
Selling a domain privately, moving it to a new wallet or giving a username to a friend: sooner or later you'll need to transfer a name. .ton domains, Telegram usernames and TON subdomains are all NFTs, and Namespace now has a transfer button for each of them.
Before you start
- Connect the wallet that owns the name to Namespace with TON Connect. A transfer from any other wallet is simply bounced back by the contract.
- Have the recipient's TON wallet address or .ton name ready. You can type friend.ton instead of a long address; Namespace looks up the wallet it points to.
- Keep a little Gram for the network fee, about 0.05 Gram (the unused part comes back).
Transfer a .ton domain
- Open your domain on Namespace, for example https://namespace.my/domain/yourname.
- Find the Transfer domain card.
- Enter the recipient's wallet address or .ton name and press Transfer.
- Check the recipient shown in the confirmation, press Confirm transfer and approve in your wallet.
- The new owner appears on the page within seconds.
The new owner gets full control, including the domain's DNS records, so they can change where it points.
Transfer a Telegram username
The steps are the same on the username's page. Two things to know:
- If the username is listed for sale or in an auction, it can't be transferred until the sale ends or you cancel it.
- Transferring the NFT moves ownership. The new owner can then assign the username to their own Telegram account through Fragment.

Transfer a TON subdomain
Subdomains such as you.brand.ton are NFTs too. Open the subdomain's page on Namespace and use the same transfer card. Learn more in TON subdomain auctions.
Safety tips
- Transfers are permanent. Only the new owner can send the name back. Check the recipient carefully.
- Watch for lookalike addresses. Scammers plant addresses that start and end like yours in your history. Copy addresses from a trusted source, or use a .ton name. Read our address poisoning guide.
- Private sales: a transfer doesn't take payment. If you're selling, agree on how you'll be paid first, or use an on-chain listing instead.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to transfer a .ton domain?
Only the network fee, a small fraction of a Gram. Namespace doesn't charge anything.
Does the domain's expiry change after a transfer?
No. A .ton domain must be renewed once a year by its owner, and the expiry date stays the same after a transfer.
Can I transfer to a Telegram Wallet?
Yes. Telegram's built-in wallet is a normal TON wallet and can hold domains and usernames.
