Buy a Telegram Username Instantly: Buy Now, Bids and Live Prices
Telegram usernames are NFTs on the TON blockchain. You can own one, sell it, put it in a wallet and use it on your Telegram account. We covered the basics in Telegram Username NFTs Explained. This guide covers what's new on Namespace: buying a username instantly at its buy-now price, bidding, and following prices live.
How a Telegram username sale works
Each Telegram username is its own smart contract on TON. To sell a username, the owner starts an auction on that contract with a few settings:
- minimum bid: the lowest first bid;
- buy-now price: a bid of at least this amount ends the auction immediately and transfers the username;
- duration: how long the auction runs if nobody buys now.
There's no middleman. You pay the username's contract, and the contract hands the username to your wallet in the same transaction. If you're outbid, your bid comes back automatically.
Many sellers use bots that re-list their usernames with short auctions and adjust prices all day. Thousands of usernames are re-priced every hour, which is why prices you see on some sites are out of date.
Live prices, straight from the chain
Namespace now reads every listing, re-price, bid and sale directly from the TON blockchain, within seconds. On each username page you see the current bid, the minimum next bid, the buy-now price, the time left and the bid history. Before you pay, we re-check the live price on the contract itself, so you never pay a stale price.
How to buy a Telegram username at its buy-now price
- Search for the username on namespace.my (for example @name) or browse Telegram username auctions.
- On the username page, press Buy now for … Gram.
- Namespace checks the live listing. If the seller changed the price in the meantime, you see the new one before anything happens.
- Press Pay … Gram and approve the payment in your TON wallet: Tonkeeper, MyTonWallet, Telegram Wallet or any TON Connect wallet.
- Within seconds the username is in your wallet. Network fees are extra and small.
If the listing changes before your payment arrives, for example the seller cancels it, the contract returns your payment.
How to bid instead
Don't want to pay the full buy-now price? Place a bid at or above the minimum next bid shown on the page. When the auction ends, the highest bidder gets the username. A bid in the last minutes can extend the auction, so keep an eye on it.
After you buy: use it and manage it
- Put it on your Telegram account through Fragment, which assigns collectible usernames to accounts.
- Show it on your Namespace profile by connecting the wallet that holds it.
- Transfer it to another wallet or a .ton name from the username page; see how to transfer a .ton domain or username.
Frequently asked questions
Is buying a username on Namespace safe?
You pay the username's own contract, not Namespace. The contract transfers the username in the same transaction, or returns your payment if the listing has changed.
Does Namespace charge a fee?
No. You pay the seller's price plus the normal TON network fee.
Which wallets can I use?
Any wallet that supports TON Connect, including Tonkeeper, MyTonWallet and Telegram's built-in wallet. No wallet yet? Activate your Telegram Wallet for free.
Why did the price change when I pressed Buy now?
Many sellers re-price usernames automatically. Namespace always shows you the live price before you pay.
